The town is famous for its Paypyrus plant which paper is made from - its a rare plant and is found around the River Ciane. The paper can be bought plain or painted and makes a special gift. Glittering and gleaming there's lots of gold, precious metals and gems to buy and the local pottery is very pretty.

Art and culture go hand in hand here with many different influences forming the modern day cosmopolitan town - Arab, Byzantine, Roman, Spanish and the Normans have all made their mark here. There are beautiful palaces, gardens and squares, fountains that have mythological stories behind them and the Neapolis Archaeological Park which is filled with greenery, monuments and a place of peace and tranquillity.

Evenings are easy going with visits to the Greek Theatre and friends meeting in the old part of the city around the Isle of Ortigia - fun, laughter and happiness fill the air.
