Monuments, churches and the most important historical and artistic building of the city - the Cathedral - this is a beautiful site and has the added advantage of having a roof you can sit on, sunbathe and enjoy the spectacular views across the whole of Milan and the Alps.

For a bit of window shopping or some serious spending head for the Golden Quadrilateral where you will find every designer name under the sun - the highly acclaimed Gucci, Prada, Armani, Moschino, Valentino and Versace and some fabulous jewellers and perfumeries are found here.

An afternoon at San Siro where you can watch AC Milan play or a visit to La Scala to see a ballet and if that doesn't attract you there are several other theatres and a good choice of nightlife with bars, clubs and many restaurants.

Visit Maria Della Grazie to view The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci and the Stazione Centrale di Milano for more art pieces and creations.

Days out of the city are easy to enjoy with up to an hour's drive - you are soon at Lake Como, Lake Maggiore or the charming town of Pavia with its monuments and towers.

Good stuff: Very pleased with my room which was better than I had expected. Everything was in good working order (even the shower which is a bonus)and room was cleaned every day to a superb standard.

Bad stuff: At the time of my stay there was building work going on inside and outside which did annoy me when trying to have a lie in however once this is finished then no dislikes at all.

Overall: This is a good standard budget hotel which is excellent value for money. In an excellent location only minutes away from the Central Railway Station but situated in a fairly quiet street away from the bustle of the main roads. Really helpful and pleasant staff who all appeared to speak good English and assisted me on several occassions making me feel very welcome as a visitor. Breakfast was basic fare and maybe more effort and personnell could be chanelled into that area in order to provide a speedier service with a better choice of menu.
