Close to the main sites and just a short walk away from the Signoria Square which is a museum in itself - the Town Hall sits in the centre, the Bell Tower to one side, The Grand Duke Cosimo I - an Equestrian Statue of importance and the amazing and magical Neptune Fountain along with a copy of Michaelangelo's David. To see the original you must visit the Gallery of the Accademia where it takes pride of place in a central position, allowing you to walk all the way around it.
Santa Maria dei Fiore - the Cathedral - takes pride of place in the centre of town - filled with mosaics, frescoes and glass stained windows that each tell a story.
Walk over Ponte Vecchio as you view the River Arno below and perhaps visit one or two of the goldsmiths who have taken position here - exquisite jewells and design. As you pass over to the other side of the river you are close to the Piazza G Roggi, Piazzale Michelangelo and the Boboli Gardens and Pitti Palace - lots of walking, admiring of sculptures, statues and art work and the chance to just sit a while and relax as you take a breather.
