Head over to the Gardens of Boboli which is filled with perfectly sculptured hedges, fountains and ponds and makes for a most romantic place to walk; inside the Palazzo Pitti - built for the Medici Family is a wealth of master artwork - from the great Ruben, Raphael, Lippi and Tintoretto - know you are in the presence of sheer genius.

Meander the streets to find the Cathedral in the centre, visit the Accademie Gallery which is home to David - the famous sculpture and then take a cool refreshing break in the shade.
