Famous for its many proposals of marriage is the Piazza di Spagna - the Spanish Steps is made up of two triangles that meet at the points, there is a fountain that is built in the shape of a boat and at the top of the steps sits the church - the whole scene forms a monument in itself and is filled with symbolism and mystique - a really special place.
The other main square is Piazza Venezia where the four main roads of the city converge - here you will see the awesome palace built for Pope Paul II, the Monument of Victor Emanuelle and the intriguing Mausoleum - Altare Della Patria. At the other end of the "line" sits Palatine Hill and there is the home of the Roman Forum - the Colosseum was built by the Emperors of the Flavian Dynasty and is the most imposing of all the monuments in Rome.
