Just a short distance from Treviso - an ancient part of Venice. Here you will find some inviting restaurants, cafes and Gothic churches. Take a walk around the streets and discover the Tomaso da Modena paintings. There are some fine squares including Piazza di Signori and be sure to view the Palazzo dei Trecento. The tiny chapel of Santa Lucia is a place of peace and solitude and where you can simply be for a while.
Take a trip around the neighbouring islands - there's quite a treat on each and they are all different. Burano is the pretties and where you will find lovely colourful houses and this is the place to buy lace - one of the oldest skills dating back to the 16th century - be sure to visit the Lace Museum too.
Murano is where the art of glass making is to be found with a Museum displaying 4000 pieces of work. There are many designs and styles and some delightful souvenirs to take away with you.
Venice itself is of course famous for St Marks Square, the Basilica with its fine Mosaics telling the story of the New Testament and the cool marble floors. Take time out for that exclusive coffee and watch the world go by.
