La Fornella built for the monks of the Vallombrosa monastery which was founded by Saint Giovanni Gualbeto Visdomini in 1038 was a master of his time - living a life of virtue and encouraging others to give up their riches and do the same. However richness came through the door and during the 16th and 17th century there was enough money to built the abbey. Now standing in fabulous grounds and providing you with a place of peace to ponder life and recharge your batteries.
