Actually, their seventh CAPITOL album (counting THE BEATLES'' STORY two-LP set)

Released in both mono and stereo in North America on 6/14/65, BEATLES VI (T/ST-2358) held the #1 spot on Billboard''s 200 Albums chart for six weeks, starting 7/10/65. Original pressings have CAPITOL''s black w/rainbow edge label. SIDE ONE TRACK TRIVIA "Kansas... See more
Released in both mono and stereo in North America on 6/14/65, BEATLES VI (T/ST-2358) held the #1 spot on Billboard''s 200 Albums chart for six weeks, starting 7/10/65. Original pressings have CAPITOL''s black w/rainbow edge label.

SIDE ONE TRACK TRIVIA
"Kansas City" was recorded in one take on 10/18/64. George and John back Paul''s lead vocal; all four provide handclaps. George Martin plays piano.
Recorded on Oct. 6 and 18, 1964, "Eight Days a Week" was once considered as title song for the second Beatles film. Although it was a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit, the group didn''t care for this one and never played it live.
George wrote "You Like Me Too Much" for the film HELP! but it ended up on Side Two of the British album of the same name . Harrison''s vocal is double-tracked. Paul and George Martin play the intro simultaneously on either end of a Steinway grand piano. John''s overdubbed on a Hohner Pianet. Ringo doubles on tambourine. Recorded 2/17/65.
Waxed on 5/10/65, "Bad Boy" is one of two songs slated exclusively for BEATLES VI. Paul doubles on Hohner Pianet and Ringo on tambourine.
The country-flavored "I Don''t Want To Spoil The Party" was written for Ringo, although John ended up double tracking the vocal. The 19th and final 9/29/64 take was used for the master. Flip side to "Eight Days a Week," the song peaked at #39 on the Hot 100.
"Words of Love" is the only Buddy Holly tune the Beatles ever officially recorded. This was their final track from a marathon 10/18/64 session in which seven songs were hurriedly completed.

SIDE TWO TRACK TRIVIA
"What You''re Doing" was inspired by Paul''s rocky relationship with Jane Asher. He considers the track mere filler, although it has some interesting features, such as a four bar drum intro, unusual rhyming (''doing'' with ''blue in'' etc.) plus an early use of guitar distortion. Recorded at three different sessions, it was finalized on 10/26/64.
John said "Yes It Is" was a failed rewrite of "This Boy." This ''B'' Side to "Ticket to Ride" reached #46 on the Hot 100 George''s volume-pedal guitar gives it a distinctive sound, as do its 12/8 time signature and doowop chord structure. The stereo version is Duophonic rechanneled.
Recorded on 5/10/65, cowbell classic "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" (misspelled ''Lizzie'' on the LP) was the second tune recorded exclusively for BEATLES VI. George''s guitar is double tracked, John overdubs Hammond organ. A favorite of the band from their earliest days, Lennon included "Dizzy" in his 1969 LIVE PEACE IN TORONTO set.
The ratchety sound on "Tell Me What You See" is George on a South American güiro. Ringo also plays claves, which are two short thick wooden dowels that are struck together. Paul overdubs a Hohner Pianet. Director Richard Lester nixed it for HELP! McCartney considers this one a throwaway. Recorded 2/18/65.
Ringo''s overdubbed timpani on "Every Little Thing" give the production a Gene Pitney feel. Paul may have written this sweet love song for Jane Asher. He hoped it would be the follow-up single to "A Hard Day''s Night" but the track became album filler. Recorded on Sept. 29 and 30, 1964.
